About me

Hello! My name is David de Tena. I'm mostly a web & iOS developer who sometimes plays with web design. I love creating simple, fancy projects... that work! I like them to be unique, challenging experiences.

I grew up with cartoons and videogames, so I soon realized that my life should be all about technology and computers.

When I finished High School I started studying Technical Engineering in Computer Systems. After getting my degree and having worked as a computer system technician for some years I understood that I wanted to focus my career on development. I wanted to create things that make real life easier.

And that's how my life as a developer began about 2010, taking advantage of all my learning in HTML , CSS , JS, PHP, Java or MySQL along the way.

However, my life is not only about coding. In my free time I enjoy playing videogames, watching movies and soccer, and listening to music, especially Heavy Metal. I like running and going to the gym to do my workout. I hang out with my family and friends whenever I can.

Custom CRM for managing a local car repair shop

Custom CRM for managing a local car repair shop

March 2015

The client wanted to renew her obsolete, pc-based software and get a simpler, faster and more powerful solution. We agreed to create a webapp that takes advantage of the possibilities that the cloud and modern browsers offer us.

The result is a powerful, easy-to-use management tool with a beautiful UI. It allows to manage customers, cars, warehouse, repair orders, budgets, invoices and suppliers. It also provides info and charts about the money balance, warehouse movements and a log to see all the operations done. The webapp includes an aside menu grouped in sections for a quick access to all these options.

Built on HTML5, CSS3, JS/jQuery, PHP5 and MySQL.

J2EE-based online shop

J2EE online shop

May 2011

Final Master Project. J2EE-based online shop.

This virtual ecommerce was built with Struts framework, according to the MVC pattern:

  • Model: business logic based on Java Persistence API (JPA) and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) for mapping from MySQL data tables.
  • View: front-end with Java Server Pages (JSP), HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX.
  • Controller: using Servlets and JavaBeans.

This webapp had two roles: one for customers, where they were able to buy items, watch their orders and contact the administrator; an one interface for the administrator, to see all the items purchased and the messages from the customers.
